Born and raised on
Long Island, NY, Steve O'Rourke moved west at age 17 to attend and graduate
from the University of Northern Colorado. Part of that early learning
experience was working as a carpenter to pay his way through school. Early
on he fell in love with the smell of wood in a freshly framed home.
Fast forward 2,000 homes and some twenty plus years and Steve still regards building as an exciting experience. It's this excitement and his commitment to his industry that has enabled him to deliver a consistently outstanding product.
He formed his first company, Trinity Homes and Construction, at the age of 24 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Although successful, after ten years he felt the need to expand his skills. He chose to enter the corporate world and became the youngest division manager at Stanley Martin Companies in northern Virginia. At Stanley Martin, he established a reputation for putting together housing developments that sold because they more than met customer expectations. At the "Parade of Homes" show in 1989, competing against national builders, one of his homes took seven out of fourteen possible awards, including Best of Show. This one award alone is a highly coveted regional award in the building industry.
"There are many different approaches to home building. I believe that customer service and satisfaction is of paramount importance before, during and after settlement," says Steve. "A quality product is achievable through good management and knowledge of your business. Add to this a customer who is satisfied with how his hard-earned money has been spent, and now owns a home that meets his expectations, and you have a unfailing formula for success."
Now living in Wilmington, Steve has established Maritime Homes and Development, Inc.
Maritime Homes is able to provide a full compliment of services in land development, feasibility studies, home building, sales and all other disciplines associated with homes. As a builder, Steve puts a great deal of emphasis on processing information from all available sources — professional architects, engineers, designers, inspectors, Realtors and trades. "Bundle that information effectively," says Steve, "manage the budgets, communicate in a straightforward way and you end up with concise and efficient home delivery — the expected product delivered on time."
