Wilmington River Front Wilmington has become a very popular destination in the past few years, with good reason. The climate is moderate; there are definite seasonal changes and it does get warm in the summer, but rarely does it fall below freezing in the winter. Being able to wear shorts in December is not unusual. The city is well within traveling distance for short weekend trips to the mountains of western North Carolina, and just an approximate 15 minute drive to the beach. Unlike the west coast, summer ocean water temperatures are comfortable and refreshing, and the North Carolina shores are famous for their beautiful dunes.

The city itself supports a strong arts community. The film industry maintains a thriving presence here and local talent can be exceptional, making trips to the theater or live music performances entertaining and worthwhile. Shopping is becoming cosmopolitan, with new interesting, upscale stores opening all the time. The downtown area proudly maintains the feel of a small southern town while sporting excellent restaurants and a charming river front walk.
